About the Author
My name is Alouise Dittrick. I’m a writer from Edmonton, Canada who is currently living in Dublin, Ireland. There are many ways I can describe myself. I’ll start by saying I have a passion for writing, an enthusiasm for travel, and a love for the performing arts.
About My Travels
As a travel blogger I love to travel, but I’ve never done the long-term nomad thing. Most of my travels (2 weeks or less) has been between school and work. Even living in Dublin right now I’m pretty stationary (for the moment).
My family took lots of road trips (around Alberta and Saskatchewan) when I was a kid. Usually it was to visit family or go camping. When I was 8 we drove to British Columbia and I saw the ocean for the first time. There was a trip to California (Disneyland) when I was 13. I didn’t go anywhere else until my friend and I decided to drive to Seattle. I traveled solo for the first time when I was 24 (a few days in London and then I joined a group tour). I love traveling solo, but I’ll take trips with friends or family if it’s the right the fit. Each year I try to go somewhere new, but there are plenty of favourite places where I’ve made repeat visits.

About My Love for Performing Arts
When I talk about my love for performing arts I speak as a spectator. I don’t want to be on stage, but I love watching a show (particular if that show is a musical). The first time I went and saw a big production of a stage show was when I was nine and I saw The Phantom of the Opera. I fell in love with musicals, and I’ve seen several since then. I love seeing shows on Broadway in New York or the West End in London, but I also love supporting local theatre too. I’ve even traveled for theater. In 2010 my friend and I went to Toronto for the sole purpose of seeing the final Broadway tour of Rent.
I also love music. I grew up singing in choirs, and I took piano lessons for many years. I haven’t been to a lot of concerts, but I do love live music, especially in places like New Orleans.
My goal for Take Me to the World is to show the variety of performing art shows and events that happen around the world.
