This has links to the cast recordings/soundtracks that I mentioned in this podcast, as well as to some musical playlists.
It’s Broadway, Bitch – Deezer Playlist. This has over 1700 songs from different musicals. Albums are listed in random order. Some songs contain strong language and subject matter; listener discretion is advised.

Hadestown. This is the official website for the Broadway production and The US Tour. Unfortunately, there are no shows close to me, but I’m sure one day I’ll get to see Hadestown. Update: Hadestown is coming to Edmonton in November 2023. Huzzah!
Wikipedia Page – Hadestown. If you can’t get to see Hadestown in person you can read the plot summary on Wikipedia. This is mostly sung through so you should be able to understand the plot and characters from the cast recording.
Wikipedia Page – Spring Awakening. This has a basic a plot summary of the musical, plus info on the history of the show. Since this is a book musical you may find it helpful to read the plot summary (unless you want to remain spoiler free, then don’t read it).
IMDb – Spring Awakening. This is the IMDb for the potential upcoming movie adaptation of Spring Awakening. There’s not much information here, so I’ll believe this is happening when an official trailer drops for it.
Wikipedia Page – Grey Gardens. This is a book musical and not sung through so it might be helpful to read the plot summary on Wikipedia. Plus there’s a dual role played the same actress, and the two Acts are set more than 30 years apart from each other so the plot summary might be useful.
Wikipedia Page – You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown. This is another book musical. It’s hard to get a sense of the plot from the songs alone so reading the plot summary here can give you some context for the show. Of course many people know the Peanuts gang from comics, tv specials, etc. so it’s easy to get a sense of the characters from the songs on the cast recording.
Wikipedia Page – Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812. While this musical is sung through and easy to follow along with the cast recording if you want to read a quick plot summary this is a good place to go.
Concord Theatricals – Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812. This is the information for how to obtain the licensing rights to stage this show for your theatre company. This isn’t the easiest musical to perform, but if you have strong singers and musicians then you might want to consider this show. And if you’re putting on this musical anywhere within the Edmonton, Alberta region let me know and I will gladly go see your show.
Reddit Musicals and Reddit Musical Theatre. Both subreddits are great places to learn about musicals, get tips (if you’re a performer), and to get recommendations on shows to check out.
Broadway Musical Home. This is a great website with a list of over 300 musicals. The Rights page has information on where to get the rights to put on a variety of musicals. Concord Theatricals and Musical Theatre International are the two main companies to license musicals.
Playbill has a listing for shows (musicals and plays) in New York, London and National Tours.
Today Tix has an App for both iOS and Android. You can use the app to buy cheap, same-day tickets for shows in several cities like New York, London, and more. I’ve used this app in London and highly recommend it.
